  • About The Artist

born and raised on Kibbutz Ramat Rachel. During the Israeli War of Independence he was sent to Raanana and then Yagur, where he lived for two years. At the age of 16, he began to study at Bezalel, first attending evening classes and then enrolling as a regular student. After art studies in London, Katz returned to Israel, where he began to work as a painter, illustrator and graphic artist. In the 1980s, he created the Kippi character for the Israeli version of Sesame Street and appeared as an actor in the series. In 1982-1992, he was a co-author of the satiric column "Davar Akher." He also wrote columns for Monitin (1978), Hadashot (1989), Yedioth Ahronoth and other publications. At this time, he adopted a style of illustration that mimicked woodcuts. In the 1990s, he produced many macabre images using linoleum printing. In 2005-2012, Katz created a large series on plywood combining painting and wood carving. Many of them depict groups engaging in physical activities.

Katz is known for his illustrations of Hebrew children's books.
