  • About The Artist Moshe Propes, Painter. b. 1922, Poland. Immigrated 1925. Studies: Grande Chaumiere, Paris. Teaching: 1939-48 at Schwarzman?s studio with David Handel; Histadrut Studio, directed by Aharon Avni; studio of Streichman and Stematsky; 1960 Avni Institute, Tel Aviv. 1948 Cultural Officer of Givati Brigade. ?Wandering Painter? among army graves and camps. Prizes: 1950-51 Dizengoff Prize; 1958 Histadrut Pize. Executed many murals for army camps. 1950 Worked as journalist; illustrator mainly for theatre performances for ?Davar? and ?Al Hamishmar?. 1951-60 Founder of ?Group of Ten?. 1951-52 Travelled in Europe. 1952-56 Member of Kibbutz Ein Hahoresh. 1958 Lived in Paris. 1958 Published an illustrated Kibbutz Passover Haggadah for Sifriat Hapoalim; 1960 Haggadah for W. Zimzun Edition. 1964 Took active part in organising abstract painters, founded group ?Tatzpit? and the autumn salon of Tel Aviv Museum. Died 1985.
